In The Breakdown of Nations Leopold Kohr shows that, throughout history, people living in small states are happier, more peaceful, more creative and more prosperous. Virtually all our political and social problems would be greatly diminished if the world's major countries were to dissolve back into the small states from which they sprang. Rather than making ever-larger political unions, in the belief that this will bring peace and security, we should minimize the aggregation of power by returning to a patchwork of small, relatively powerless states, where leaders are accessible to and responsive to the people.

This volume contains a selection of the papers presented at the Eighth Symposium on Turbulent Shear Flows held at the Technical University of Munich, 9-11 September 1991. The first of these biennial international symposia was held at the Pennsylvania State Uni versity, USA, in 1977; subsequent symposia have been held at Imperial College, London, England; the University of California, Davis, USA; the University of Karlsruhe, Ger many; Cornell University, Ithaca, USA; the Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France; and Stanford University, California, USA. The purpose of this series of symposia is to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of new developments in the field of turbulence, especially as related to shear flows of importance in engineering and geo physics. From the 330 extended abstracts submitted for this symposium, 145 papers were presented orally and 60 as posters. Out of these, we have selected twenty-four papers for inclusion in this volume, each of which has been revised and extended in accordance with the editors' recommendations. The following four theme areas were selected after consideration of the quality of the contributions, the importance of the area, and the selection made in earlier volumes: - wall flows, - separated flows, - compressibility effects, - buoyancy, rotation, and curvature effects. As in the past, each section corresponding to the above areas begins with an introduction by an authority in the field that places the individual contributions in context with one another and with related research.

The Celtic Gods

The Celtic Gods

Author: Patrick McCafferty, M. G. L. Baillie
Publisher: Tempus Pub Limited
ISBN: 0752434446
Pages: 224
Year: 2005
The Celtic myths, involving heroic warriors such as Finn and CuChulinn, can be read as simple primitive stories, but closer examination reveals strange descriptions and relationships. The authors of this ground-breaking book argue that all the principal characters are aspects of the one Celtic sky god, Lugh, who was a comet. Against the background of a comet scenario this re-interpretation of about ten key Celtic myths shows how many of the descriptions in the myths fit the appearance of comets. The fact that these comets on occasions produced abrupt environmental changes, that can be traced in the tree-ring and ice-core chronologies, pins the stories to a central reality. With a novel twist this original book confirms the widespread belief that these stories must contain a 'core of truth'.
Cities of Dreams

Cities of Dreams

Author: Stan Gooch
Publisher: Aulis Publishers
ISBN: 1898541027
Pages: 298
Year: 1995
This is a work of breathtaking scope and originality. Yet Stan Gooch's reconstruction of the lost civilisation which preceded our own, and unlike other such attempts, is based at every turn on hard and accepted archaeological fact, the extensive red ochre mines of southern Africa (100,000-40,000 years Before Present) the bear skull altar of Drachenloch in Switzerland (75,000 years Before Present) the flower graves of Iraq (60,000 years Before Present). It is not just the case that we were not the first. It is the case, amazingly, that all ancient legends are true. The Minotaur did live at the centre of the maze, Sleeping Beauty did waken to the Knight's kiss, the fairy people did meet and dance in the moonlight, and Woman once ruled the whole magical Earth.
Song of the Spine

Song of the Spine

Author: June Leslie Wieder
Publisher: Createspace Independent Pub
ISBN: 1594574707
Pages: 138
Year: 2004-04-30
The human spine with its primary and secondary curves looks like a standing wave. Is it possible, asks the author, that energy echoes like a standing wave between these curves in order to maintain the structural and neural integrity of the spine and nervous system? That question led Dr. Wieder into research on the resonance of the spine. Her studies reveal that each bone of the spine has its own tone and frequency, and that applying specific vibrational frequencies directly to the vertebrae generates a sympathetic response that activates the embedded harmonics that help maintain healthy functioning. This book provides an overview of the history of harmonic healing from ancient times to the present, and chapters on how sound creates form and the neurobiological basis of vibrational healing. But the core of the book is about a vibrational therapy called bone toning, how it was developed and how it can be applied.

Pages: 272
Year: 1999
The extraordinary scenario in this book is based on the scientific analysis of treatises. A tree-ring chronology is a year-by-year record of what trees 'thought' of their growth conditions in the past. When we interrogate some of these records we find some positively alarming evidence of extreme environmental events in the past which also seem to be recorded in human history. These extreme events were thought to be linked to volcanic activity, but as research has continued the story has started to turn strange and increasingly extraterrestrial. Now the outline of the story can be together. It would be easier to believe that the account in this put book is true than to believe that all the apparently logical steps could just be one big mistake. The reader must judge.

I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.
